  8. To function correctly, The Vampire's Coffin requires 
  9. Ñ  Apple Computer's QuickTime¬ System Extension to be installed in your Mac 
  10. Ñ  Apple Computer's Sound Manager 3.0 System Extension to be installed in your Mac
  11. Ñ╩Apple Computer's Sound Control Panel to be installed in your Mac
  12. Ñ  At least 2048K of available RAM
  13. Ñ  A color monitor setting of 256
  14. Ñ  System 7

  16. Instructions for these procedures are provided below.

  20. QuickTime¬ and Sound Manager 3.0 Installation Instructions
  21.  
  22. 1)  Open the folder "QuickTime¬ & Sound Manager 3.0" from this CD-ROM. 
  23. 2)  Select the files "QuickTime¬1.6.1", "QuickTime 1.6.1" and "Sound" and drag them to your Macintosh's System Folder. When the System Folder highlights, let go of the mouse button. 
  24. 3)  When your Mac asks you if you would like it to put the files where they belong, 
  25. click "OK" .  The Mac will then copy the files and install them for you. 
  26. 4)  Restart your Macintosh.

  28. QuickTime¬ 1.6.1, Sound Manager 3.0 and Sound Control Panel 8.0.1 have been included to enhance the audio and QuickTime playback performance.

  32. RAM Setting Instructions
  33.  
  34. Your Macintosh should have at least 2048 Kilobytes of RAM available. To check this:
  35. 1)  Under the Apple Menu, choose the "About this Macintosh..." item.
  36. 2)  Check to see if there is at least 2,048K in "Largest Unused Block".  
  37. 3)  If you have less RAM than this, ensure that all unnecessary System Extensions and Control Panels are turned off. 
  38. 4)  If you're using a network, turn off your Network extensions to conserve memory.

  40. Note: Owners of double-speed CD-ROM drives will want to use the double-speed option. Animations and screen transitions will be faster.

  44. Color Monitor Setting Instructions
  45.  
  46. SWMC's "The Vampire's Coffin" requires a 13-inch, or larger, color monitor.  The monitor must be set to 256 Colors.  Attempting to use the program with the monitor at other settings will result in poor and/or unpredictable performance.

  48. To change your monitor's color setting to 256: 
  49.         1)  Under the Apple Menu, choose the "Control Panels" item. 
  50.         2)  From the "Control Panels" item, open the "Monitors" control panel.  
  51.         3)  Click the "Color" radio button, and  the "256",  in the list on the right.
  52. Your monitor is now set to 256 colors.
